Varsity Football is Unrivaled
On Friday, the Indians annihilated Freeport with a 49-6 final score, bringing Hononegah’s record to 4-0. We currently stand first in the Northern Illinois Conference, fifth overall in the Rockford High School Football Rankings, and 100th in the state.
The first point of the night was a 71-yard passing TD from #2, Cole Warren, to #7, Isaiah Houi. Only seven minutes later, Warren sent another touchdown-making pass to #17, Joe Melcher. For the rest of the game, Luke Poppe (#5), Brock Anderson (#31), and Warren all scored rushing touchdowns. Houi also made a second passing TD from Warren in the third quarter.
Within the team, Houi holds the top spot on the leaderboard for average receiving yards per game (72.8) and total touchdowns (5). Warren has 770 passing yards and 11 passing TD’s this season which places him at #1 in the NIC-10 and 19th in Illinois. Their next game is at Guilford against Rockford East, whose team has a 1-3 record. The student section theme is Hawaiian, so be sure to dress up and support the team!
