Hononegah Varsity Football Goes Undefeated!

Starting with a 55-8 crushing victory over Jefferson and a 42-7 win against our crosstown rivals, the Harlem Huskies, Hononegah has opened the 2023 season with a bang. We now stand at 8th overall in the Rockford area and 2nd in the NIC-10 high school football rankings. The Harlem game was highly anticipated by all the fans who attended last year’s match up which resulted in a close 34-31 win. After the Huskies managed to take the first touchdown of the game a few minutes in, Hononegah dominated the scoreboard for the rest of the night. So far this year, two of our top players are #2, Cole Warren (senior), and #7, Isaiah Houi (senior). In just two weeks, Cole has become the leading quarterback in the league in passing by 137 yards (Rockford Register). He is the first player from Hononegah to hold this title in 27 years. Houi has racked up at least 4 touchdowns, including a game-changing punt-return interception. The next game on the lineup for our Indians is at Guilford High School. Guilford currently has a 0-2 conference record with a scoring average of 34 points per game. If you are planning on attending, be sure to dress in neon colors to keep up our title as the best student section in the NIC-10!
